Itinerary - Kyrgyzstan 360°: Expedition in the Heart of Central Asia

Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!

This city is one of the most fascinating in Central Asia, so if we feel a little lost it's normal - the good food and the warmth of the people will make us feel at home! Let's start our adventure with a quick tour of the center and the local markets to then be ready to taste delicious national Kyrgyz dishes! Let's start with a nice bešbarmak.

We wake up early and set off on an exciting adventure in fairy-tale landscapes so far from our imagination. The first stop, however, is to discover a bit of local history, admiring the Burana Tower , which reveals the remains of Balasagyn , the ancient capital of the Karakhanids . Our journey continues: we make ourselves comfortable aboard our minivan and enjoy the landscape that passes outside the window. Can we not stop for a scenic stop? Obviously not: we arrive at the Konorchek Canyon where we can stretch our legs walking among fascinating and ancient rock formations unique in the world. Towards evening we arrive at our first yurt camp on the southern shore of the legendary Issyk Kul Lake , located at 1,600 meters above sea level. This night we will spend a while with our cases upwards to admire the starry sky, before having our first sleep in the yurt.

The day begins with the fairytale Skazka Canyon , where surreal red, ocher and yellow sedimentary rocks seem to come from another planet! We spend some time among these rock formations, exploring the canyon and taking the time to take all the necessary photos. But let's not fool around: we have an eagle waiting for us! This morning we will be lucky enough to experience firsthand the thousand-year-old tradition of hunting with the eagle of the Kyrgyz people . During the show we will acquire some techniques and legends about the art of falconry: a dream!

In the afternoon we head towards the enchanting Jeti Oguz Valley where we will temporarily abandon our vans and immerse ourselves in a simple trek up to the panoramic point that will allow us to admire the magnificent Cima Oguz Bashy, which rises to an impressive height of 5,000 metres. In the evening we reach the tented camp: again this night we will sleep in the yurt!

Today, we pause in the picturesque town of Kochkor, where a traditional lunch invites us to savor ancient flavors and cultures. Our journey continues through the breathtaking Kalmak Ashuu Pass, soaring to an altitude of 3,447 meters. With every twist and turn, we are greeted by fairy-tale panoramas, culminating in the exotic expanse of Song Kul Lake. Nestled between majestic mountains that reach over 3,000 meters, this serene haven captivates the soul. As night falls, we’ll rest in a charming yurt camp and have the unique opportunity to partake in a cooking class, mastering the art of local sweet bread—just like a true nomad of Kyrgyz legends.

Our expedition continues through the Moldo-Ashuu Pass , following the course of the majestic Naryn River and the source of the Syr-Daria River. After a delicious lunch in the city of Naryn, we venture into the fascinating snow-capped mountains of Tien Shan. Finally, we arrive at the 12th-century Tash Rabat Caravanserai , a place shrouded in mystery and history. We will dedicate the entire afternoon to exploring this historic stopping point of the Silk Road , a place where the past and present blend into a timeless tale. Here we will stay under the stars and our yurts will have already become home for us . Before going to bed we will drink hot tea, prepared according to centuries-old Kyrgyz traditions.

Our adventure moves towards the Ak Sai Valley , towards China , where vast alpine pastures are lost on the horizon. We will have the chance to see the mysterious wild sheep with spiral horns accompanied by the picturesque nomadic shepherds. We glimpse and touch the majestic Kakshaal Too range , where every glimpse of the valley is a wonder of nature. We will spend hours getting lost in these landscapes, and then arrive in one of the most fascinating yurt camps of the entire trip , where the mystery of nomadic life will envelop us under a starry sky , warmed by sheep's wool and a dinner around the fire .

Today, we’ll start with a rich and hearty breakfast to fuel up for an enchanting 3-hour trek to the breathtaking Köl Suu Lake. This hidden gem, cradled by towering mountains, dazzles with its unforgettable turquoise waters. Prefer not to hike? Opt for an adventurous horse ride, embracing the spirit of a true nomad! Once we arrive, we’ll enjoy a lakeside lunch and, with a bit of luck, may even spot some adorable yak calves. After soaking in what might be the most spectacular view of our trip, we’ll return to the yurt camp for one last unforgettable night in the wild.

Today carries a touch of melancholy as we make our way back to Bishkek. Along the journey, we’ll reflect on the extraordinary experiences we’ve had—landscapes, people, and stories that will forever shine in our memories, more vibrant than we could have ever dreamed. The last mountains fade into the distance, accompanied by a final lunch, as these precious memories guide us through the long stretch (fair warning!) to the capital. But tonight is not just the end—it’s also a celebration, with an unforgettable traditional Kyrgyz dinner and perhaps the chance to end on a high note by exploring the vibrant nightlife of Bishkek!
