Itinerary - India 360º: from Rajasthan to the Taj Mahal
Welcome to India!
Check in
Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
The initial impact can be unsettling, between the humid heat and the hectic traffic of the city... but at least we will immediately have a taste of India as we begin to get to know each other! Let's also immediately try Indian cuisine , which is for strong stomachs: let's go easy on the spices for the moment, perhaps trying to limit ourselves to rice and curry - which will still be delicious!
Included: overnight stay
The journey begins: we explore Old Delhi and reach Agra
We immerse ourselves in the real India
The alarm clock rings early this morning: we get up well recharged to face this first day on Indian soil.
Let's explore the ancient city also called Shahjahanabad - ok, as if we didn't mention it, you can call it the old city, that's fine too! We start from the Jama Masjd mosque, pass in front of the Red Fort , and also admire a Sikh Temple - and who knows, maybe we will have time to stop and eat right there! It will be the perfect time to get to know Indian cuisine in the most authentic way possible - but let's try not to fill our bellies right away because we will soon have to get back on the road to reach Agra, the final stop of this first day.
Tonight a truly local experience awaits us: tonight we will sleep in a Haveli ! Havelis are Indian townhouses converted into guest houses - a bit like our bed and breakfasts. It will be a unique opportunity to be guests of a local family for this night.
Included: overnight stay, old city tour in Delhi, minibus with driver
Money pot: entrance fees
Not included: meals and drinks
The Taj Mahal and the road to Jaipur
A dream come true: the Taj Mahal at dawn
It is still dark outside and we are already waiting: we are in the presence of one of the seven wonders of the modern world , the majestic Taj Mahal , the true treasure of Agra. Visiting it at this time of the morning, with the sun rising on the horizon and the light mist falling on the white marble will be a moment we will never forget. Let's enjoy these moments and breathe the magic of this surreal place of eternal beauty .
We return to the structure to recover from getting up early (and from the emotions we felt!) and then we visit the Red Fort of Agra, another must here in the city, with its intricate architecture and its impressive panoramic views, the rooms full of frescoes, the gardens with golden pavilions and some cute monkeys passing by. Before lunch, however, we have to get back on the road: the road to Jaipur is long but with a good playlist you will see that the journey will become a pleasure!
Included: overnight stay, local guide for visits to Agra and mini-bus with driver
Money pot: entrance fees
Not included: meals and drinks
The pink city: Jaipur
Discovering Jaipur
Day entirely dedicated to the exploration of Jaipur , known as the pink city , capital of Rajasthan. The facades of the houses were built in pink sandstone (hence the nickname), and it appears surrounded by walls onto which seven doors open. We will start with a visit to the Amber Fort : once at the top, we will walk through the wonderful complex of courtyards and halls. On our itinerary we will not fail to see the Hawa Mahal , a spectacular palace with the appearance of a beehive, the City Palace , a complex of palaces and courtyards in Rajput style and the spectacular Albert Hall .
After having refreshed ourselves (we walked quite a bit without realizing it!) we visit the Jantar Mantar , the city's astronomical observatory built in 1700 - it will be interesting to discover the instruments used then! We then take a stroll through the market in search of spices and fine fabrics: we negotiate to secure the most beautiful ones! Tonight a crackling dinner awaits us: we will dine with typical Indian dishes - obviously - but watching a curious show cooking . We can not wait!
Included: overnight stay, local guide in Jaipur, mini-bus with driver and dinner
Money pot: entrance fees and tickets
Not included: meals and drinks
Journey to Pushkar
A long journey
The alarm clock rings early this morning: we get up early and face another transfer to Pushkar , in the heart of Rajasthan. This town, a Hindu pilgrimage destination, has a truly particular charm: walking through its streets we hear the regular rhythm of prayers and sacred songs, but it won't just be our ears that will be enraptured, our eyes will be too! We join the Hindu pilgrims who walk along the lake and descend the steps of the numerous ghats to immerse themselves in its waters, observing this spiritual and sacred moment with respect.
A special sunset
Let's also explore the bazaar - get ready to quickly learn how to bargain with the Indians! It will be the perfect time to buy some local artisan products, especially fabrics, incense and perfumes - but let's try not to fill our backpack straight away, we're only halfway through the journey!
The day continues and we still have one last mission to face: climb to the Savitri Temple! From there the sunset is something exceptional - and we are ready to enjoy it to the full!
Included: overnight stay, local guide in Pushkar and mini-bus with driver
Money pot: Entrance fees and tickets
Not included: Meals and drinks
Pushkar and Jodhpur
Free time and off we go again!
Do you know the famous saying about the carrot and the stick? This morning we start with the carrot: the alarm will be free and we will have time to enjoy the atmosphere of Pushkar. Shopping, regenerating massage or yoga lesson: everyone is free to choose what you like best! Then, however, comes the stick: we say goodbye to Pushkar and leave for Jodhpur , our next and last stop - the hours in our minivan will be several but this is the last transfer of the trip and we wanted to end with a bang! Let's not forget to bring some food supplies - it will definitely be useful. We will arrive in Jodhpur in the late afternoon, just in time to enjoy the view of the illuminated houses of the city.
Included: overnight stay, mini-bus with driver
Money pot: Entrance fees and tickets
Not included: meals and drinks
Cooking class and discovering Jodhpur
Fortresses, white marble and blue houses
After breakfast, we begin to explore the city: we are surrounded by enormous fortifications and indigo-colored buildings that make this place almost surreal. We visit the Jaswanth Thada , the white marble mausoleum reminiscent of the Taj Mahal - here too you can breathe peace and tranquility, with its gardens, the pond and the sculptures depicting the governors of Jodhpur who now rest here in marble tombs.
We then go up to Mehrangarh , the fort that towers majestically above the town - it is one of the most particular buildings in India , it seems to rise directly from the rock and its decorations are incomparable, still intact despite the signs of time that has passed. Then we go back to the city to find a place to have lunch!
Feeling spicy today?
Yes, we know that after a week in India we will feel that there is something we are missing: pasta, pizza, friselle with cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella! There will be time to return to the good old Mediterranean diet but that time is still far away, so for this afternoon let's get ready: we cook local! The chapati will no longer have secrets for us and we will be able to recognize every spice used to create the very famous Masala... chili pepper included, obviously, but this time we will be the ones to decide how much to use. The important thing is to put in the effort, because we will only dine with what we cook!
Included: overnight stay, mini-bus with driver, local guide for visits to Jodhpur and cooking class with dinner
Money pot: Entrances and tickets
Not included: meals and drinks
Jodhpur and return to Delhi
Free time and our last dinner together
This morning the pace is more relaxed: we have plenty of time to explore Jodhpur and go shopping in the local market. We can have lunch calmly or taste as many street food delicacies as we can find. In the early afternoon it's time to go to the airport to catch a flight, yes because it's already time to return to Delhi , where it all began! We close the circle - and, unfortunately, our journey - with the last dinner all together: let's relive the moments we have shared in these days in front of our last Indian dish!
