Today we are grabbing our cars and heading to the centre of the island, for Roque Nublo, an iconic landmark. Roque Nublo is an 80 metre high monolith, formed by a volcanic eruption that represented a place of worship for the island´s indigenous inhabitants. We will take the 3-km hiking trail to explore this Rural Park, making sure to keep an eye out for the Roque del Fraile and Roque de la Rana, two rock formations that look like a monk in robes and a frog peering towards Roque Nublo, respectively. If we´re lucky, we´ll be able to see all the way to Teide in Tenerife across the ocean.

Once we have opened up our post-hike appetite, we will head to the town of Ayacata, situated in a crater of the island, for some lunch. IN the afternon, we will head to the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the town that gives the name to the borough we’re staying in.
